The national motto for New Zealand, at least meteorologically speaking, could be “This Too Shall Pass”. The weather here is truly schizophrenic - from bursts of scorching sun (just learned that there is a hole in the ozone right over New Zealand and Australia… never thought about the precise location of an ozone hole, only that they existed and presumably eventually will doom us all) to tantrums of rain and driving winds, to a gentle dusting of mist and fog…we are on a high crest here, with Mt Karioi behind, where the dark clouds get pulled over the craggy ridges, getting torn open as they do, then get blown over this way, leaking their moisture as they go.
The day is soft and quiet thus far - I am quite tired, from so much yoga and walking and yesterday’s surf, so I’m laying low in my little caboose-womb, reading and writing and such. I have really landed well here - into a community of diverse and interesting people who have truly welcomed, even embraced, me. No yoga class offered this evening, so I may be teaching a free Pilates class to a few of the staff who have expressed interest… should be fun. I do love to teach people :) Daily words of the Buddha: “Wisdom springs from meditation; without meditation wisdom wanes. Having known these two paths of progress and decline, let one so conduct oneself that one's wisdom may increase.”
